Everything you need to know about YouTube: what is YouTube advertising and how is it done?

Everything You Need to Know About YouTube

Everything About YouTube!

Today, as Generation Z in particular spends long hours online, a number of social media platforms have emerged. Some were offered to people as mainly audio-based platforms, others as mainly visual ones. The outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic also moved the internet into a new era, giving it fresh momentum and pushing digital marketing to the forefront of marketing activities.

Between 2019 and 2021, many things in our lives had to change. Our habits of sitting in cafés, strolling the streets and shopping in malls gave way to entirely different ones. If we look back not very far, just two years, people used to spend their days off going to the cinema. Now streaming platforms for series and films such as Netflix have emerged, and the cinema has come right into our homes. Social media platforms, which this example alone shows have given people the advantage of saving both “time and money”, have offered internet users a shortcut to entertainment at a lower cost.

Before Introducing YouTube Advertising…

Before digital media platforms were used as actively as they are today, people relied on the power of traditional marketing. Traditional marketing, with its drawbacks in terms of both cost and time, has now given way to digital marketing. As I mentioned above, internet users, particularly Generation Z and Generation Y before them, discovered the power of these platforms and found ways to earn money through them alone. They also created new professions on these platforms: occupations such as TikToker, YouTuber and influencer emerged. The influencer and YouTuber professions marked a milestone for the internet and digital marketing. Social media platforms have played a very important role in becoming a brand, promoting a brand, growing it and taking it global. Where TV, film and advertising stars used to be the faces of brands, influencers, TikTokers and YouTubers have now started to take their place. In a short time, these people have managed to introduce brands to wide audiences and help them grow, so much so that actors, models and TV stars working in traditional media have started moving into these professions. In particular, the fact that YouTube lets users create their own channels and broadcast to their own target audiences has led to the platform being used very effectively in recent years. And this is exactly where I would like to tell you about YouTube advertising today. If you’re ready, let’s begin!

Let’s Get to Know YouTube Together!

YouTube came into our world in the USA on 5 February 2005 and was acquired by Google in November 2006. The first video on YouTube was uploaded by co-founder Jawed Karim, and it is still on the YouTube channel today. If you would like to watch this short and equally entertaining video, I am leaving the link for you here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNQXAC9IVRw

How Did YouTube Become So Important?

Digital media platforms, which offer users a free and original environment, have diversified according to the features every user might want. YouTube in particular has managed to create a world of its own and has earned the title of the world’s second most-used search engine. In its early years, YouTube was a platform for listening to music and watching series and films, but now, with users actively playing a part in the app, it has moved into an entirely different dimension. With everyone from homemakers to owners of large companies opening channels and uploading videos, YouTube is now watched more than TV channels, and people spend more of their time on the platform.
