Everything About Influencer Marketing!

Recently, as social media has become more functional, we have started to encounter various marketing models. When the pandemic entered our lives and the time we spend online began to increase, social media platforms gained importance through their marketing models. Expanding their content every day and turning the internet into a global marketing tool, social media platforms have introduced us to a new profession: Influencer Marketing! Today I will introduce you, my valued readers, to Influencer Marketing and try to answer any questions on your mind. If you're ready, let's begin! First of all, let's look at what an influencer is, who they are, what types there are and exactly what they do…

What Is an Influencer and What Do They Do?

As social media platforms have grown and diversified, they have become part of our lives. The word influencer derives from the English verb “to influence”. The people known as influencers are defined as individuals who have a large number of followers on social media platforms, are followed by large audiences and influence their followers through the activities of their daily lives. In short, the general definition of an influencer is someone who reaches an agreement with various brands for a certain fee and markets those brands' products to their followers in a conversational way. These people promote the brands they collaborate with on their social media accounts and, in their own distinctive style, encourage their followers to buy the product without pressuring them.

Influencers are also divided into groups. I have listed those groups for you one by one below. :)

Types of Influencers by Follower Count

Mega Influencer: People with more than 1 million followers are defined as Mega Influencers. Mega Influencers reach large audiences effectively in a very short time. World-famous pop stars and the like are examples of this. Don't you think Rihanna influences you just as she pleases? :)

Macro Influencer: Macro Influencers have fewer followers than Mega Influencers but are still known to large audiences. Macro Influencers promote products in partnership with famous, well-known brands. Having become a new profession today, the Macro Influencer is accepted as one of the current marketing models. Examples of this group include people who, although not world-famous, are known to large audiences in their own countries.

Micro Influencer: People with even fewer followers than Macro Influencers are defined as Micro Influencers. The social media accounts of women who share recipes are an example of Micro Influencers.

Nano Influencer: These are people with fewer than 1,000 followers on social media platforms. Despite their small follower counts, this group of influencers manages to enter into advertising partnerships with brands and grows its recognition day by day by increasing its follower count.

What Is Influencer Marketing?

Defined today as Influencer Marketing, this new advertising model is a marketing model that can reach large audiences quickly and easily. Offering advantages such as these, Influencer Marketing is one of the most preferred advertising models and one with the highest conversion rates. Looking at the statistics, the return rate for an influencer with 100,000 or more followers varies between 1.5% and 2.8%, whereas the return rate for an influencer with 20,000 followers is 10%–20%.

Why Do We Trust Influencers?

You may remember how, in the 1990s, we tried to get hold of the products used by the actors, models or TV presenters we watched on television. We assumed that whatever products these people we admired used must be high-quality and reliable. Now that the internet has entered our homes, the television era has almost come to an end and things have started to change. The celebrities of the internet age have become influencers, in other words, internet personalities. Influencers have succeeded in making their lifestyles appealing to their followers and awakening in them the desire to live like them. For this reason, we have inevitably come to trust the products that influencers promote.

So How Do You Become an Influencer?

If you too want to become an influencer, let's look together at the steps you need to take.

Get to Know Your Target Audience

First of all, choose a field in which you consider yourself successful or in which you want to succeed. If you are an internet personality who reviews games, you can reach an agreement for a fee with brands that sell games and promote the products you love to your followers on your own account.

Try Not to Pressure Anyone When Promoting a Product

When you reach an agreement with a brand whose products interest you, try not to pressure your followers into buying them. And don't forget to be as natural as possible when promoting the product :).

Don't Promote Products You Don't Use

Followers who follow you because they like you know you much better than you think and can more or less guess what kind of products you would use in your daily life. Try not to influence your followers with products you would not use in your own daily life. Because of this insincere behaviour, your followers will no longer find you natural and may unfollow you.

Try Out the Products You Will Promote Beforehand

Don't promote products from brands you have never heard of to your followers. Research the product before making a deal with the brand.

Send Gifts to Your Followers

Aaand congratulations! Thanks to the products you have promoted, you have finally become a successful influencer and a big brand in your own right. If you want to build brand loyalty and make sure your followers never unfollow you, you can send them gifts.

Take Part in Projects with Other Influencers

If you want to reach even wider audiences beyond your own, you can take part in the same projects as other influencers.

That brings us to the end of today's article, my valued readers. I hope you found this article on Influencer Marketing useful. Goodbye until we meet again on another blog topic! :)
