An Introduction to YouTube Advertising!
How Do You Create a YouTube Channel? How Do You Upload a Video to YouTube?

Once YouTube became an interactive social media channel, it turned into a platform where everyone, from homemakers to large corporations, could upload videos. As a result, every user began to access videos to suit their own tastes with ease. This made YouTube the second most used search engine.
In the first part of my blog post titled “Everything You Need to Know About YouTube”, I briefly told you how YouTube came to be so important and about its history. Dear readers, in this part of my article, before touching on YouTube Advertising and YouTube Ad Models, I will answer the questions “How do you open a YouTube channel? How do you upload a video to YouTube?” for you. I can sense your excitement, so if you're ready, let's begin!
How Do You Open a YouTube Channel?
Opening a YouTube channel is not as difficult as you might think. I will go through the channel creation options one by one; they are divided into three: “For Myself, For My Child and To Manage My Business”. Let's start with the option of creating a channel for myself.
Creating a Channel for Myself
- Go to YouTube on any device that can connect to the internet (mobile phone, computer, tablet).
- Click the “Sign in” option in the top right corner.
- Click the “Create account” button offered alongside the “Use another account” button.
- Under the Create account option, you will see “For Myself, For My Child and To Manage My Business”. Click the For myself button.
- Then fill in the information requested under “Create your Google Account” accurately and completely.
- And there you have it – you've created your account!
We've seen how simple it is to create a channel for yourself. Now it's time for the option of creating a channel for your child!
Creating a Channel for My Child
As I mentioned in the first part of my article, TV channels have now been replaced by apps such as YouTube that offer services like listening to music and watching films. In the past, we would put our children to sleep by telling them fairy tales, or keep them busy with cartoons while we did the housework. But with the internet entering our lives, we started keeping our children busy with smart devices. Once things reached this point, YouTube had to develop this option so that child users under the age of 13 would not be exposed to harmful videos and would spend time on YouTube under parental supervision. It is precisely here that I will now explain the option of creating a channel for your child. First, you need to sign in to YouTube just as with the option of creating a channel for yourself, and then carry out the following steps in order:
- Click the For my child option under Create account.
- Next, information about the features Google offers parents will appear. From the moment you activate the For my child channel, you will be able to take advantage of the following features:
* You will be able to manage your child's YouTube channel account and privacy settings, filter features such as Google Play and Search to whatever limit you wish while they are signed in, and set screen time on the device your child uses through the Google Family Link app.
- Then click Yes, continue and Create a Google Account.
- Result: you have created a safe channel for your child!
Now let's move on to the option of creating a channel to manage my business. The process here is also very simple, and it is very similar to the first option I described, creating a channel for myself. This time, when creating the Google account, you need to enter your business's details accurately and completely instead of your own. Your account will then be opened.
How Do You Upload a Video to YouTube?
Let's move on to another task we tend to see as bigger than it really is. You've created your channel and you're very excited to upload your first video to YouTube. But do you know how to upload a video to YouTube? Don't worry – uploading a video is also much easier than you think. Remember, apps like this are now designed to be user-friendly and offer their services in a way that lets users get things done easily. Move your mouse over the camera-shaped icon in the top right corner of YouTube. From the Go live and Upload video options, click Upload video. A Select files button will appear; click it and choose the video you want to upload. Then fill in the details for your video title, description, audience and thumbnail. And you're done! Your first video has been published on your YouTube channel!
I Have a Bonus Tip for You!
Never infringe copyright when uploading your video. As I will explain in my next blog post, if you don't pay attention to copyright when uploading a video to your channel, your video may be closed to advertising and you may not be able to earn money from the video you worked so hard on. Goodbye until we meet again in another blog post.
